Hi everyone!
A new world trip update! This travel itinerary goes from the beaches in Cambodia to the most amazing viewpoint in Vang Vieng in Laos.
It’s crazy how time flies! We’ve been traveling the world for 4 months now, and it still feels unreal. Every day, we’re feeling so lucky for all those incredibly beautiful places we encounter! And yes, living out of a backpack is hard sometimes, we do miss our normal routine sometimes, but all the traveling made us realize that we don’t need much to be happy. Nothing can trade our adventures for anything else at the moment.
Last month we left the beaches in Koh Rong, took the bus to Bangkok, celebrate Valentine’s day in a luxury hotel, and finally arrived in Vang Vieng in Laos. Here’s a new world trip update of month 4 including all the things we’ve done, our travel itinerary, the unforgettable moments, and our planning for month 5. Enjoy!

Relaxing on the beaches in Cambodia
In the previous world trip update, where we shared the travel itinerary of our first 3 months, where we spent already 11 days in Cambodia and visited places like Siem Reap, Battambang, and ended in Phnom Penh. A lot of culture in this amazing country but we needed some sun and time to rest and there is no better place to relax in Cambodia than the beaches in Koh Rong.
We traveled further by bus to Kampot, a small riverside town famous for its black pepper farms and which has a lot fewer tourists than other places in Cambodia. Kampot has a beautiful river where you can jump on a sunset cruise every evening having some drinks. Lovely! In Kampot, we stayed at The Hideaway where we had the most stunning river views straight from their sunset deck.
After Kampot, we went to the island of Koh Rong in Cambodia, which took us about 6 hours with the boat and bus. Once we arrived, we were in love with the local people, the crystal clear waters & the white sandy beaches in Koh Rong.
After exploring the mainland and the beaches of Koh Rong, we joined an island tour with Adventure Adam where we discovered hidden bays, did some snorkeling around the island, and had a campfire on a deserted beach. Unforgettable experience!

Exploring Koh Chang in Thailand
Initially, it was our plan, to visit Vietnam after Cambodia but due to bad weather forecasts and tropical storms, we decided to stay longer in Cambodia and travel to Koh Chang, an often forgotten paradise in the Gulf of Thailand.
Unfortunately, we also didn’t have the best weather in Koh Chang, why we did a lot of online work for our blog and watched some good series on Netflix. Renting a scooter for a couple of days and exploring the island, was definitely the highlight for us. Driving around, taking pictures of the stunning views, chilling out at the beaches, and exploring the waterfalls.

Working on a project in Bangkok
After a week of relaxing on Koh Chang, we took the boat and bus to Bangkok. Bangkok wasn’t the first time for us, but we came back for another reason. We started an exciting project a few weeks ago with Burasari Group a lifestyle and boutique hotel management company that has seven unique properties in Thailand and Laos. We stayed in their stylish W22 hotel right in the middle of Bangkok’s Chinatown and created a new promotional video for them.
In the meantime, we also visited the beautiful temple of Wat Arun, the stunning Royal Palace, strolled around Chinatown, and watched stunning sunsets along the Chao Praya River. We met up with Ellen and Sam, friends from Belgium, who brought us a bag with new clothes from home. Thanks again sweeties for taking this with you!

Hiking in Vang Vieng
Laos was the first new destination in Southeast Asia during our world trip. We were super excited and had no idea what to expect.
We spent our first days in Vientiane, where we visited the beautiful Buddha Park. A famous sculpture park with more than 200 religious statues. We also continued our project with Burasari Group and we were lucky enough to spend Valentine’s Day in their brand new luxury hotel La Seine.
After Vientiane, we took a bus to Vang Vieng which was about a 4-hour ride. From the moment we arrived, where we were blown away by the impressive nature. Wow, Vang Vieng truly left a great impression on us. This place is by far one of the most unique places we’d been so far. The views of sharp and majestic mountains jutting out of the earth surrounded by the lush and green ricefields. Just wonderful!
If you ever want to go hiking in Laos, then Vang Vieng is the perfect place. We did the hike to the top of the Pha Ngern Viewpoint and a short hike through the ricefields of Vang Vieng, where we got rewarded by incredible views of the mountains.
Unfortunately, we only had 2 nights here. We really could have stayed here for a week!

Where are we now?
At the moment, we are in Luang Prabang, a charming and authentic little town situated right off the Mekong River in Northern Laos. Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage town and also described as the jewel of Indochina and for a good reason. We absolutely love it here! We will continue our project with Burasari and will be staying in their beautiful properties Cafe De Laos, Sunset Villa, and The Heritage. Of course, we are also planning to visit the Kuang Si Waterfalls, which is the highlight in Luang Prabang.

What’s on the planning for month 5 of our world trip?
Month 5 of our world trip will be a mix of two countries: Thailand (but this time the northern part) and Sri Lanka. First, we have planned a 2-day cruise along the Mekong River that will take us from Laos to the north of Thailand, and which is apparently also the most beautiful way to travel between these two countries. After the cruise, we will continue our journey by local transport and explore the northern part of Thailand. On March 11, we will be flying to Sri Lanka, also a new destination on our travel itinerary.
