The best hotels in Siem Reap
We think it’s fair to say that the town of Siem Reap belongs to one of the most popular ones in the world. It’s a small and super laidback place in the north of Cambodia and it has its own airport making it easy to reach. Siem Reap is the gateway to exploring the ancient temples of Angkor Wat but there is so much more to see and do in the surrounding area. You can fill up a week here without getting bored so below we listed 3 of our favorite and best hotels in Siem Reap.
Where to stay in Battambang
A stop many people skip, but truly a must-see when you’re in Cambodia. The little town of Battambang is located only a 4-hour bus drive from Siem Reap. From visiting local villages and the Killing Caves to taking the funny bamboo train, there are a lot of things where you can fill days with. This is also the place where you can witness millions of bats flying out the cave every evening.
Where to stay in Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia but compared to Bangkok or any other big city in Asia, this city still has an authentic Asian feeling. Visit the incredible temples or the Silver Pagoda and walk along the riverside promenade by sunset or learn more about the shocking history behind the Tuol Sleng (S21) Museum and the Killing Fields. Phnom Pehn is definitely worth a visit. Below we listed some of the best hotels in Cambodia if you don’t know where to stay in Phnom Penh.
Kampot is a lovely riverside village with many hotels, hostels, and guesthouses. In this cute little town are many things to do like exploring the area with a scooter, kayaking on the Kampor river, having dinner on a sunset cruise, visit a pepper farm or go hiking in the hills of Bokor National Park. Kampot has also many great restaurants and cozy bars for spending the nights.
This will probably the place where you take the ferry to the islands like Koh Rong/ Koh Rong Samloem. Sihanoukville is a place we didn’t like that much but some people love it. After Ko Rong, we went back to Sihanoukville and stayed for 1 night in Otress, so we could catch the bus to Bangkok the next morning.
This small island is surrounded by turquoise blue waters, incredible coral reefs, tropical jungles, and white sandy beaches. Koh Rong has everything you need for a tropical vacation and it is the perfect getaway to relax on the beach. We could stay here for weeks. In this list of the best hotels in Cambodia we added 3 of our favourite hotels in Koh Rong.
Song Saa Private Island
This unique place definitely needs to be added to the best hotels in Cambodia even it isn’t a hotel but an island. Tropical reefs, amazing sunset views, and white private sandy beaches… So if you still don’t know where to stay in Cambodia and if you are looking for a truly unique and magical place to stay, be sure to check out the following resort.
