Best hotels & hostels in Japan: Kawaguchiko
Kawaguchiko is definitely one of our most favorite places in Japan. It’s a peaceful town located near the beautiful Kawaguchiko Lake with incredible views on mount Fuji. As it is a small village with not much choice of accommodations, we recommend booking in advance, especially when you go during the blossom or autumn season. We stayed in Kagelow Mt. Fuji Hostel which had a perfect location, a cozy atmosphere, and super clean rooms. We could also rent a bike at a much cheaper price than renting it in town. Below we listed 3 of our favorite places to stay in Kawaguchiko.
Best hotels & hostels in Japan: Takayama
Takayama is a charming cute little town located in the foothills of the Japan Alps. Small traditional houses, some beautiful temples, shrines, a morning market and peaceful parks where you have stunning views over the whole area. Takayama is also the perfect location to do some great outdoor activities like hiking or cycling or visiting the Unesco Heritage Site of Shirakawa-Go. We recommend you to stay at least 2 nights to have enough time to enjoy the surroundings. Below we listed 3 of our favorite places to stay in Takayama which are all located close to town.

Best hotels & hostels in Japan: Nara
Nara is a cute little town famous for its huge park where you can spot hundreds of free-roaming deer. Most people visit Nara as a day trip from Kyoto or Osaka as it’only a short train away, but we loved staying here for one night and can’t recommend it enough. In Nara town, you’ll find a few good bakeries and on the Higashimuki Shopping Street, you’ll find lots of souvenir shops and restaurants.
